About: Prof. Raphael Nyarkotey Obu, Esq, ND, MBA, Th.D, PhD, is a multidisciplinary scholar with expertise spanning health economics, management, law, theology, development studies, Public Health, education, and naturopathic medicine. He is the first African naturopath to be called to the Bar as a lawyer in the Gambia, a Chartered Health Economist, and the Legal Director of the Traditional Healers Association of The Gambia. Prof. Obu’s pioneering work focuses on bridging the gap between natural medicine and public health economics, especially in underserved African regions. He has played a central role in the development of national occupational standards in naturopathy under the Commission for TVET in Ghana and continues to advocate for cost-effective, community-based health solutions rooted in African traditional knowledge systems. He currently serves as a Research Advocate with the World Naturopathic Federation (WNF) in Canada, contributing to global policy and research efforts in naturopathic and integrative healthcare.
