This short lecture provides an overview of healthcare markets and contracts in global health settings, including healthcare payments and transfers.  Martin discusses how an understanding of markets and contracts can inform better delivery of healthcare. 

Originally delivered as part of an ‘introduction to health economics’ workshop for Overseas Development Institute (ODI) Health Fellows, delivered at the Centre for Health Economics at the University of York (UK) on 31 July 2019. 

Martin Chalkley is a Professor at the Centre for Health Economics, and co-lead of Health Economics for the Thanzi la Onse research programme.
